Build Your Program

Assess your Needs

The needs assessment guides you through identifying your aims and desired outcomes for your program. It also suggests a solution that is best suited to what you need. Just answer a few simple questions, and you'll be on your way to finding the right program. These questions can also help you reflect on and better understand your own requirements. Whether you’re trying to plan a participatory program to address environmental issues, or engage the public on policies or legislation, the Playbook has you covered.

Design your Program

Clicking on the cards below will take you to interactive pages we call wizards. They guide you through the key questions you’ll need to answer when designing your participation program. Each step of your journey presents you with options and information to consider. At the end, you’ll have a clear roadmap for your program. Check out our sample playbook to get an idea of what this could look like. Keep in mind that playbooks will look different for each participation solution.

Obstacles may arise on your journey — you may not immediately have the answer to a question, and sometimes choosing between different forks in the road can get a little overwhelming. We’ve tried to design the Playbook to accommodate these challenges. If you don’t have an answer at your fingertips, you can come back and edit it at any time. You can create as many playbooks as you would like if you want to explore different possibilities or different programs. You can also add team members or colleagues to look through your playbook as collaborators in the planning process.
